Surveys in Brusnika.LMS are a form builder for surveys, feedback collection, evaluation questionnaires and requests. The module supports different question types, conditional logic, scoring, anonymity, audience targeting and repeated submissions.

A survey can be created manually, generated with Nika.AI, imported from a Word, PDF, Excel or PowerPoint document, or created from an HR template.

Surveys can be used independently, assigned to employees, embedded into courses, or configured as recurring surveys that appear after training activities.

What the Surveys module allows you to do

In Brusnika.LMS, you can:

  • create surveys from scratch;
  • import questions from Word, PDF, Excel and PowerPoint files up to 10 MB;
  • generate a survey draft with Nika.AI;
  • specify tone, target audience, number and types of questions when generating a survey with Nika.AI;
  • use ready-made HR templates;
  • divide a survey into sections with descriptions;
  • use 14 question types;
  • make questions mandatory always, never, or conditionally;
  • display questions based on previous answers;
  • redirect respondents to another question;
  • end a survey based on a condition;
  • display a completion message;
  • assign points to answer options;
  • define score ranges with named results;
  • show employees their final result;
  • use standard, public or anonymous surveys;
  • enable comments and likes;
  • restrict access to selected audiences;
  • allow multiple submissions;
  • allow respondents to edit submitted answers;
  • display results in the survey card after completion;
  • define start and end dates;
  • add an image to a survey;
  • configure recurring surveys;
  • automatically offer recurring surveys after learning activities;
  • embed surveys into courses as required or optional modules;

  • view assigned, completed and in-progress surveys in the employee account;
  • analyze results in reports;
  • export reports to PDF;
  • use the API for survey submission data and new-response notifications.

Moderators create surveys and review reports. Employees complete the surveys available or assigned to them.

Creating a survey

There are several ways to create a survey.

Create from scratch

The survey wizard includes:

  1. Metadata — name and form type.
  2. Questions — questions and sections.
  3. Settings — audience, anonymity, dates, repeated submissions and other options.
  4. Preview — review before publication.

The form type can be:

  • survey;
  • feedback;
  • evaluation;
  • request.

A survey can be divided into sections with descriptions.

Create with Nika.AI

Nika.AI can generate a survey draft from a natural-language description.

The moderator can specify:

  • topic;
  • tone: formal, friendly or concise;
  • target audience, such as all employees, managers, new employees or a department;
  • number of questions;
  • question types;
  • additional requirements.

The generated draft can then be reviewed and edited.

Import a document

Questions can be extracted from a document and used to create a survey draft.

Supported formats:

  • Word;
  • PDF;
  • Excel;
  • PowerPoint.

The maximum file size is 10 MB.

Nika extracts questions from the document and creates a draft survey.

HR templates

The module includes a catalog of preconfigured HR survey templates with a ready-made structure and preview.

Nika.AI survey generation and document import are not available in the on-premises version of Brusnika.LMS.

Question types

The survey builder supports 14 question types:

  1. single choice;
  2. multiple choice;
  3. dropdown;
  4. 1–5 scale;
  5. 0–10 scale;
  6. NPS 0–10;
  7. yes / no;
  8. Likert scale;
  9. matrix;
  10. short text;
  11. long text;
  12. number;
  13. date;
  14. file upload.

Questions with answer options require at least two options.

Conditional logic

Surveys can change depending on an employee's answers.

Question requiredness can be configured as:

  • never;
  • always;
  • conditionally.

Question visibility can also depend on previous answers. Available conditions include:

  • equals;
  • does not equal;
  • less than or equal to;
  • greater than or equal to;
  • contains.

A response can also redirect the employee to another question.

A survey can end when a condition is met or display a specific message at completion.

For example, a CRM survey can first ask whether an employee uses the CRM. Employees who answer “No” can be redirected to questions about the reasons, while other respondents can continue through another question path.

Scoring and final results

A survey can assign points to answer options.

The moderator can define score ranges using “from–to” values and assign a name to each result range.

The employee can see their final result after completing the survey.

This makes it possible to use surveys not only for collecting opinions but also for structured evaluation based on predefined criteria.

Access and anonymity

A survey can have one of three anonymity levels:

ModeDescription
StandardOnly moderators can see the responses
PublicEveryone can see the responses
AnonymousRespondent data is not visible to anyone

The selected anonymity level affects how respondent information is presented in reports.

The audience can be:

  • everyone;
  • selected employees;
  • departments;
  • subaccounts;
  • subaccount groups.

Additional survey settings

A moderator can:

  • enable comments;
  • enable likes;
  • allow multiple submissions;
  • allow editing after submission;
  • display results in the survey catalog card after completion;
  • set start and end dates;
  • add an image.

If the same survey is assigned twice, the two assignments are treated as two independent attempts.

Completing a survey

The employee follows this flow:

intro panel → questions → submission.

A response draft is saved during completion. If the connection is interrupted, the progress already entered is preserved.

Depending on the settings, employees can:

  • complete a survey;
  • edit a submitted response;
  • view their own response.

A survey can also be embedded into a course as a required or optional module.

Survey catalog and employee account

The survey catalog displays surveys as cards with statuses and likes.

A “Recurring surveys” filter is available.

The “Results” button is displayed when the current user has permission to view results.

The employee account contains “My surveys”, including:

  • assigned surveys;
  • completed surveys;
  • surveys in progress;
  • surveys shared with the employee.

Recurring surveys and post-training questionnaires

A recurring survey is a survey that can automatically be applied to specific learning objects and content.

Recurring surveys can be associated with:

  • courses;
  • tests;
  • events;
  • learning programs;
  • knowledge-base materials.

This mechanism is used for post-training questionnaires.

When an employee completes a course, test, learning program or knowledge-base material, or marks participation in an event, Brusnika.LMS can automatically offer active recurring surveys applicable to that object type.

To use this mechanism:

  1. enable “Recurring survey” in the survey;
  2. select the applicable object types;
  3. enable “Feedback questionnaire” in the relevant object;
  4. for tests, use the “Display post-training questionnaire” setting.

For example, one recurring feedback survey can be configured to appear after employees complete relevant courses.

Feed polls

The Feed module provides a separate use case for short polls.

A moderator can publish a poll on the home page and configure:

  • questions with answer options;
  • multiple answers;
  • audience;
  • display period;
  • comments;
  • likes;
  • anonymity.

Employees vote directly in the feed.

Feed polls have a dedicated “Feed polls” report.

Survey reports

Survey results are available in Survey reports.

The moderator can select a survey and filter results by departments and groups.

Reports include:

  • number of respondents;
  • response rate;
  • answer distribution for each question;
  • charts;
  • individual responses;
  • Nika-generated conclusions;
  • editable and savable Nika conclusions;
  • PDF export with charts.

For anonymous surveys, individual responses are shown without names.

Additional reporting includes:

  • Feed polls;
  • Feedback questionnaires;
  • questionnaire data in Activity reporting.

The API provides survey submission data. For anonymous surveys, respondent identification is not included. The API can also provide a notification when a new response is submitted.

Connections with other Brusnika.LMS features

Assignments

Surveys can be assigned to employees through the assignment mechanism.

Learning programs

Recurring surveys can be applied to learning programs and used after their completion.

Tests

Post-training questionnaires can be used with tests when the relevant setting is enabled.

Events

Recurring surveys can be applied to events and offered after participation is recorded.

Knowledge base

Recurring surveys can be applied to knowledge-base materials.

Subaccounts

Subaccounts and subaccount groups can be used when defining a survey audience.

Use cases

Employee engagement pulse survey

A moderator creates a survey with Nika.AI, defines the topic, chooses a friendly tone and selects all employees as the audience. The draft is reviewed, anonymity is enabled, and the survey is published or assigned.

The results are then analyzed in Survey reports.

Questionnaire after every course

A moderator creates a recurring survey and applies it to courses. Feedback questionnaires are enabled in the relevant courses.

Employees are automatically offered the questionnaire after completing those courses.

Branching survey

Questions can be displayed based on previous answers.

For example, employees who do not use a CRM can be shown questions about the reasons, while other employees follow a different path.

Scored evaluation questionnaire

The moderator assigns points to answer options and defines named result ranges.

Employees can see their final score after completing the questionnaire.

Quick feed poll

For a quick opinion check, a moderator publishes a poll in the feed. Employees vote directly on the home page, and the results are available in a dedicated report.

Important limitations and conditions

Nika.AI survey generation and document import are not available in the on-premises version of Brusnika.LMS.

Questions with answer options require at least two options.

Anonymity is selected when the survey is created and affects reporting.

The survey settings contain an “Actions after completion” section with options to assign a course or test, send a notification, or create a task. These settings are currently saved but are not executed when an employee completes the survey. They therefore should not be treated as currently available automation.

There is also a “Time limit” field in the survey settings. It is saved, but is not currently enforced during completion.

The legacy Feedback questionnaires screen is hidden in the new interface. Feedback questionnaires are now created through recurring surveys.
